For over a thousand years, since the T'ang dynasty, Chinese landscape paintings have been understood as both an intimate expression of nature and as a way of express deep emotions. Landscape paintings have traditionally been China's favorites Chinese painting as they show the poetry in nature. Literally translated, the Chinese characters for landscape mean "mountain and water". Almost all Chinese landscape paintings have mountains and water, also there can be found a river. The mountains represent a long life, and water the sea of happiness. Both symbolize a long happy life.

Silvana Brunotti

Silvana Brunotti is an Italian painter. She was born in Italy, in the year 1932. She studied in the Art School of Rome, some of her teachers were: Guttuso, Gentilini and Montanarini.
She works in the “Woman Art” and “Painters at the Tiberine Island”.

History

There is a transition between the first and the contemporary paints about landscapes, this is caused because the changes allover these years. In the early years, people started to paint these types of artworks and it was found mostly in the west. During the renaissance and the XVI century, can be found a new perspective and a religious matter. Later, in the XVII and XVIII century, the most important landscapes were the Dutch landscapes. Finally in the XIX and XX century, they were landscapes masters and were influence by French.

Landscape paintings are based in many things, such as mountains, rivers, valleys, trees; mostly by nature. Landscapes hasn’t been the same all this years, they have change a lot (each century), because the culture, feelings and ideas. An important painter is Silvana Brunotti. She is an Italian painter who had studied in the Art School of Rome. She had been part of many exhibitions of art. One type of landscape paintings is the Chinese one. By doing this paintings, Chinese people expresses their feelings. The things they paint have a special meaning; for example, the water and mountains can refer to a happy long life.
